Join CEO and adoptive mom Randi Thompson and Financial Consultant Sue Hoyle for an inspirational fireside chat on how to step in when the world needs your help and war continues in Ukraine.

Randi Thompson is no stranger to the pivot. After an eye-opening visit to an orphanage in Kazakhstan, she decided to leave her successful career in marketing to dedicate her life to helping children languishing without hope for a family.

Over 23 years ago, Randi co-founded Kidsave, a non-profit which now has helped more than 15,000 older once forgotten children find loving homes and lifelong mentors in the U.S. and abroad. They’ve helped hundreds of thousands more worldwide through their innovative approach to finding kids' families. Kidsave currently operates in the U.S., Colombia, Sierra Leone, and Ukraine.

When the war in Ukraine began in February, Thompson pivoted again. She vowed to not only help children Kidsave had found families for in Mykolaiv, but to rescue anyone in need. Her team, known as Angels of Hope, has now helped 25,000 people get to safety and regularly feeds 35,000 with a team of 300 volunteers.

What's Randi's secret to success? She says it's recognizing when you can fill a need, learning how to fill it, and inspiring as many people as possible to help you. For Randi and Kidsave, changing kids' lives and creating and preserving families is all worth it.

Join us on September 15th for this complimentary program!

    Meet the Speakers

    Randi Thompson

CEO, President and Co- Founder, Kidsave

When Randi Thompson visited an orphanage in Kazakhstan 25 years ago, she saw teens forced to move out with no place to go, no skills, and no hope. Inspired to create a new future for these kids she went to work building Kidsave programs, and she hasn’t stopped since.

Kidsave works to increase awareness of the plight of children living in orphanages and foster care, both domestically and worldwide, with the goal of moving children out of orphanages and foster care and into permanent families and connected to caring adults. Since 1999, Kidsave has worked with more than 20 governments and directly served more than 15,000 children find families. Through advocacy and training of partners, Kidsave has impacted the lives of more than 570,000 children around the world.

Kidsave has been helping older orphans in Ukraine move into families and find corporate mentors since 2016. Now, during the war in Ukraine, Kidsave has now helped more than 24,000 children and families, including more than 600 orphans, get to safety and remain together. Kidsave and its Ukrainian “Angels of Hope” volunteers provide for food and medical needs for more than 35,000 Ukrainians who are displaced or sheltering in place each week.

Prior to co-founding Kidsave, Thompson had a successful career in marketing and public relations. She has a particularly strong background in international social marketing with over 25 years of direct experience in developing outcome-based marketing and communications projects designed to effect social change, including years in Russia, Eurasia and Africa. Previously, Thompson was the Executive Vice President of Porter Novelli, a public relations-marketing firm from 1975 to 1990. She previously served as a member of the Child Protection Working Group of the Eurasia Foundation’s Social Expertise Exchange Program on UNICEF's Reference Group for Standards of Care and Permanency.

Thompson holds a B.A and M.A from the University of Maryland, has been featured in the book, "Do Your Giving While You're Living", was named "2009 Philanthropist of the Year" by the LA Business Journal and was awarded the 2016 Children’s Bureau Adoption Excellence Award for Judicial Systems Change for Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles Program. Ms. Thompson and Kidsave was also featured the television documentary series, “The Day I Picked My Parents”, which premiered on A&E television network in September 2019. This documentary series recently won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class series.

Thompson is active in the Equity Committee of the Foster Together Network a group working to increase and enhance the provision of culturally responsive and competent care for Black children in foster care, to facilitate well-being and improve their life outcomes. She is blessed to be married to the love of her life; they share four grown children (two domestically adopted children and two biological children) and a teenage granddaughter.
